In my day book I wanted to write about social media and how it does help us all stay connected when we aren't very close to the people we care about. I just moved to North Carolina from Pittsburgh, Pa, and it is such a difference. Whenever I go home for breaks or just on some weekends I don't know anyone or see anyone because I didn't go to high school here. So to stay connected with my family and friends from up north I use social media, such as: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I love seeing what everyone is up to, or if anything is new in their lives. My cousin just had her first baby and she put pictures up on facebook and he is the cutest baby ever, without facebook I wouldn't have been able to see him that easily! My grandma even has a facebook account and it is a major way of how we communicate. She doesn't know how to really use her cell phone, but she loves to message me to see how college is or how tell me how her day at work is going. Social media has helped my relationships with my family and friends so much, it made it a lot easier to communicate and keep our relationship grow. Without it, it would have made my move to Charlotte a lot harder, and I would miss my friends a whole lot more.
I can definitely relate to you on this! I have lived in North Carolina for 5 years now, but I am originally from East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania! Social media, including Facebook, is a HUGE way for people like me and you to keep in contact with old friends and family. Facebook even helps when I'm on the run here and I can't call my parents. Sometimes I just send them a quick Facebook message if I need something. Social media is definitely a huge part of society now, and it's even more important for people who live far from their families like me and you!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything that you are saying in this post. I think it is amazing how we could essentially know people now a days without ever saying a word to them in person. Social media has definitely has been a huge part of your life, and I can say the same for myself too. It's cool to see what my family members in other states or friends from high school are up to using social media.
ReplyDeleteI feel you on this. I have cousins from Australia i have never seen and through social media(Facebook) we were able to meet for the first time this summer.
ReplyDeleteHaving friends all over the world, social media is an amazing way to stay connected with friends and family. I agree with all these points. It's an amazing way to stay in touch with people you care about even when your thousands of miles away and in turn let them know how you are doing.
